How To Remove Skin Pigmentation Naturally Meenal Rajapet Stylecraze February 12, 2018

Being comfortable in your skin is a huge part of feeling beautiful. But comfort can be a bit of a reach when you are faced with pigmentation. Skin pigmentation can deal massive blows to a person’s self-esteem and confidence. A lot of women resort to using color correctors, concealers, and a lot of bb cream or foundation to cover up their uneven skin tone. And while pigmentation can quite easily be concealed with makeup, one should never feel the need to shy away from stepping out into the world with a bare face. If you feel the same way, you’ll be happy to know what I found.

I decided to do a little digging to gain a better understanding of what skin pigmentation is, what causes it, and if there are any ways to reverse it. I found that while the science can get a little complicated, the solutions are quite simple. Keep reading to find out what I learned.

What Is Skin Pigmentation?

Pigmentation, better known as hyperpigmentation, is a condition that darkens patches of your skin. These patches can be large or small. While the condition isn’t harmful, it can be a symptom of an underlying medical issue and can cause your skin to look uneven and unhealthy.

Your skin gets its color from pigment-producing cells known as melanocytes. Melanocytes produce melanin which gives your skin its unique color. When the melanocytes are damaged, unhealthy, or pushed into overdrive they start to produce excessive melanin in certain areas, causing those areas to darken.

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

A number of factors can lead to the development of hyperpigmentation in your skin. Some of them are:

  • Excessive exposure to the sun
  • Skin damage from injury
  • Hormonal changes
  • Improper hair removal
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Allergic reactions

While a number of factors can lead to hyperpigmentation, simple home remedies can reverse the condition in most cases. Following, I’ve put together, a list of 20 home remedies for skin pigmentation that will help even out your skin tone.

You Will Need
  • 1/2 cup ripe papaya
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
What You Have To Do
  1. Mash the papaya and mix the turmeric powder with it.
  2. Apply this on the problem area and let it dry completely.
  3. Slowly, scrub off the pack once it dries.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water.
How Often You Should Do This

Repeat this once every week.

Why This Works

The enzymes present in papaya loosen the hair follicles, making it easy to remove the unwanted hair with the scrubbing action used to take off the pack. The turmeric in this mix keeps the follicles from getting infected with its antimicrobial properties (14).
